Deep Purple : Fireball A2 / B3
This first pressing plays to the highest standard possible. The audio is absolutely stunning and has no interference at all. The clarity and definition of the sound quality is equal to that of an unplayed vinyl and to think it is 50 years old this year! The vinyl is also visually stunning and I can honestly say I have never seen a more impressive version.
The textured cover is in excellent order with only some wear on the edges. It is dated 7109 on the inside and is made with 'one piece' as only the first pressings were.
This is a first pressing as denoted by the matrix and that the label has 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' around the perimeter edge.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in beautiful condition and retains an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen. There are no marks or scratches and I cannot detect any obvious hairlines either, it really is a superb example. The grooves are so clean and this has certainly not been overplayed. The run out grooves and labels are super clean also.
Play grading
'Fireball' plays with stunning precision from the opening groove to the last. There is no interference and the clarity is equal to that of an unplayed vinyl. Seriously! There is no distortion and every note is just so 'clean', even the fade out plays perfectly. This is a sublime start to the album and Mint is no exaggeration.
With complete silence in the dead wax 'No No No' once again demonstrates how well this vinyl has been preserved by playing with immaculate audio throughout. The clarity is just STUNNING in every way and I did not detect even a single dust tick let alone anything more. Mint again.
The intro on 'Demon's Eye' has no 'background' and proceeds in the same way as the two previous tracks. No need to elaborate so I'll keep it brief. Mint
The quiet intro on 'Anyone's Daughter' plays beautifully with no interference. Pure silence in the background, it is as good a start that you could hope for. Wow! As the vocal begins there is no let up in quality and it continues in the same precise way. There is no interference and all I noticed was a minimal amount of non-intrusive distortion on the vocal during the second half. No more than you would expect on the final track and it still qualifies as Mint-
----------------------------------------------------------------------- 'The Mule' plays with outstanding clarity from start to finish with no interference. Again I just cannot believe how good the playback is - this is clearly a record that has not been overplayed. There is impressive clarity and then the clarity we have here! Put simply this first pressing has played 'as new' so far and this track is no exception. Another Mint track I am delighted to say.
The quiet intro on 'Fools' again belies its age with exemplary clarity and not so much as a dust tick. A pure Mint start for sure and this standard is maintained as the track progresses. The vocals are so strong and every note can be heard so clearly. The mid instrumental is just immaculate. Audio Perfection and then some! The final verse is equal to that and to the end it plays with unrivalled precision. Mint
The strong deep intro on 'No-one Came' plays perfectly and the same applies to the first vocal. It continues to impress with, you guessed it, no interference of any kind. It plays with sensational depth and power and a clarity that is second to none. No ticks or clicks, no pops and no static or crackle either. The long instrumental is 'as new' much like the rest of the album! To the final note this cannot be faulted and for a final track to play with Mint audio is a rarity indeed. What. An. Album!
In summary what can I say! This is without doubt the finest first pressing I have ever had the pleasure in listening to. This is a vinyl that has been so carefully looked after resulting in literally no interference on either side not even a dust tick. It has that ultra clean aesthetic quality of a CD but without the warmth and depth that only vinyl can bring. This is a FINAL UPGRADE album, in other words no need to purchase another as you will not improve upon the quality of this audio!
The Gatefold & Lyric Insert
This is the correct fully textured one piece G & L gatefold and it remains in excellent condition with the only wear being seen on the top and bottom edges. They have some rubbing with a little more on the bottom ones. The wide spine has a small amount of wear in the centre but the majority of Fireball Deep Purple can still be read. There is also a little wear on the corners - the right hand corners have only minimal wear. The opening edge is very clean with only a small number of minor crimps. The front cover is in great shape with a deep textured feel and has only a couple of tiny 'white' marks. The back cover is almost as good with just a little ringwear. The inside is near perfect with only minor creasing at the foot of the inner spine and a little fading along the top edge. This is a very respectable first press cover.
The original lyric insert is in perfect condition with no wear at all.
The Inner Sleeve
This comes with a company EMI inner that has no side splits or tears and barely any creasing. There is just a little age related fading around the edges.
The Labels
The yellow/green labels are super clean with only a little spindle wear on S1 and a little more on S2. There is no marking or writing and they have lost none of their original colour.
Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable // B & W 684 Speakers
This record has been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
