PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (much, much thicker than later presses) WITH DEEP CUT GROOVES WHICH DELIVER ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING CRYSTAL CLEAR AND POWERFUL AUDIO
THE GREEN HARVEST LABELS HAVE THE FIRST ISSUE "THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD...." RIM TEXT WITH THE FIRST ISSUE MATRIX: SHVL 793 A-2U / SHVL 793 B-3U, AND EARLY MOTHERS AND STAMPERS: 2/AR & 1/A (SIDE ONE CARRIES THE FIRST ISSUE "PEK" ETCHING)

THE LP IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FULLY TEXTURED, GATEFOLD SLEEVE (FACTORY SEALED ON THE LEFT SIDE EDGE) "Printed and made by Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd. Patent No. 1224339" and DATE CODED "7109" (1971, SEPTEMBER) AND COME COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL LYRIC INSERT (so often missing) AND THE ORIGINAL HARVEST COMPANY INNER SLEEVE (now a bit of a rarity in itself)

One of Deep Purple's four indispensable albums (the others being In Rock, Machine Head, and Burn), 1971's Fireball saw the band broadening out from the no-holds-barred hard rock direction of the previous year's cacophonous In Rock. Metal machine noises introduced the sizzling title track -- an unusually compact but explosively tight group effort on which Jon Lord's organ truly shined. The somewhat tiring repetitions of "No No No" actually threatened to drop the ball next, but the fantastic single "Strange Kind of Woman" nimbly caught and set it rolling again, just in time for the innuendo-encrusted hilarity of "Anyone's Daughter," featuring one of singer Ian Gillan's first (and still best) humorous storylines to go with one of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's most uncharacteristic, bluesiest performances ever. "The Mule" opened the vinyl album's second side with what is perhaps Purple's finest instrumental, and on the hyper-extended "Fools," the bandmembers proved they could flirt with progressive rock without plunging off its cliff (although the song could probably have done without its drawn-out middle section). And closing the album was the exceptional "No One Came," where intertwining instrumental lines locked together beautifully, Gillan wove another entertaining yarn that was part autobiography and part Monty Python, and the often underrated skills of drummer Ian Paice helped the song sound so unreservedly fresh and intuitive that one could almost be convinced the band had winged it on the spot. Sure, the following year's Machine Head would provide Deep Purple with their commercial peak, but on Fireball, the formidable quintet was already firing on all cylinders.

LABELS: The labels are in SUPERB condition - CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and only some light spindle traces evident when angled under a bright light
VINYL Visual: Again, BEAUTIFUL condition. The vinyl has a DEEP, LIKE NEW GLOSSY SHEEN and is practically UNMARKED. Beautiful piece of vinyl!!
VINYL Audio: OUTSTANDING audio delivery - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP and VERY STRONG. TREMENDOUS POWERFUL SOUND RIGHT FROM THE BREATHTAKING BREAKNECK DRUM INTRO. There are NO scratches, NO jumps, NO sticks, NO clicks/pops and NO surface noise. OUTSTANDING QUALITY THROUGHOUT. Plays BEAUTIFULLY and to a very, very high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO distortion and NO groove-wear. Must be graded NEAR MINT for audio. TOP COPY!!
SLEEVE: The FULLY TEXTURED cover is in EXCELLENT to (+) condition. Very hard to find this original sleeve in much better condition than this as it is so easily rubbed and worn. There is a little storage wear to the bottom edge and a little corner 'bumping' but all the surfaces are beautifully UNRUBBED and ALL the text on the spine is still CLEAR and BOLD (see pics). SUPERB GATEFOLD!!
INSERT: The lyric insert is CLEAN and FRESH and in BEAUTIFUL condition. Very nice, and very rare, to find a copy with the insert still in place and this one is in NEAR MINT condition!!
