Description

DEEP PURPLE 'MADE IN JAPAN' DOUBLE VINYL LP 1st PRESS

PLEASE ENLARGE THE PICTURES.

Label: Purple Records.   Catalogue number: TPSP 351  With Gramophone rim text, early stampers etc

Disc 1 is in EX+ (Excellent plus) condition*. There are no scratches, scuffs or hairlines.

Matrix, runoff etc:

Side 1: TPS 3511 A-1U etched "PORKY"     STAMPER: 1  MOTHER: AM

Side 2:   TPS 3511 B-1U  etched "DELTA PORK"   STAMPER: 2  MOTHER:  M

Disc 2 is in EX (Excellent) condition*. There is one short, faint scratch at the start of side 4, otherwise there are no scratches, scuffs or hairlines.

Side 3:    TPS 3512 A-1U etched "PECKO")   STAMPER: 1  MOTHER AA

Side 4:    TPS 3512 B-1U (etched "PECKIE")  STAMPER: None found*   MOTHER MG (Vertical). *There is what appears to be a small 'smiley face' at the end of 'PECKIE'. With a huge stretch of the imagination, this could be a 4. If it is the stamper number, it's in completely the wrong place.

All four labels are in clean, excellent condition, without writing or stickers, just a few faint spindle marks, only visible when viewed at an angle to the light.

*PLEASE NOTE:  I WILL ONLY RATE RECORDS AS BEING MINT, IF I KNOW FOR SURE THAT THEY ARE UNPLAYED, OR NEAR MINT, IF I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT THEY ARE UNPLAYED.    OTHERWISE MY HIGHEST GRADE IS EX+.

I could use words like ‘minty’, whatever that means, and ramble on about how this is the best live album ever, but what you really want to know is that if you buy it, and are not delighted with it, contact me, send it back , and I’ll refund your PayPal payment without quibble.

The original gatefold laminated sleeve has "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd." And is date coded  '7211' (1972, November). It has minor marks, minor edge and corner wear and minor edge creases. Others might grade it as Excellent, but I think that although it’s a nice example, without rips tears, writing, stickers, splits, slits, or spine damage, I’ll settle for VG+ (Very good plus), or EX- (Nearly Excellent.)

The original inners are not great. One has a small rip, the other has a small slit. These will be included, but the records will be mailed out in two new inners of the same pattern. Be warned, I use ugly recycled packaging, made out of much thicker cardboard than record-mailers. I pack with great care, and although it might not look pretty, unless it's run over by the mailman's van, it will arrive safe and sound.

Guarantee: If this record is faulty or not as described- return for a full refund.

I will gladly combine shipping, please contact me for more details.

Record Grades: Mint (M) The record - should be in new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The Cover - should be in perfect condition along with any extra items. Excellent (Ex) The record - signs of having been played but displays minimal deterioration in sound quality. The Cover - may have slight wear or creasing. Very Good (Vg) The record - played many times. Surface marks and light scratches evident but no major deterioration of sound quality. The Cover - normal wear and tear without major defects.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

STAMPER CODES are contentious, but the best guess appears to be:

EMI UK used the following coding: G R A M O P H L T D (Gramophone Ltd) where -

G=1
R=2
A=3
M=4
O=5
P=6
H=7
L=8
T=9
D=0

So the record above with "AM" stamped at 3 o'clock is actually stamper number 34
