Deep Purple : Machine Head P-10130W (Japan) w/ OBI & Lyric Poster (Warner Bros)

This re-pressing from 1976 is stunning!  It compares to any Mint UK first pressing, the sonic quality is so impressive.  I have played the album in full and the clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio could not be improved in any way and it easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing.  It has been played as there is a little spindle wear but the previous owner was obviously very careful with his records.  Not only is it visually stunning but it plays 'as new' also.

Not surprisingly the cover is also in superb condition with barely any wear.  The Obi is 100% perfect and the lyric poster and 12'' insert also look like they have never been handled.  A stunning 'package' all round.

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I cannot see any hairlines, it really is a stunning example.  The Palm tree Warner Bros labels are unmarked and have only a little spindle wear around the centre ring.

Play grading

The run in on S1 is so clean and then 'Highway Star' plays to the highest standard possible with no interference.  The power, depth and dynamic of the audio is outstanding and there is not one single negative.  As strong and deep as you would like this is Mint from start to finish.

'Maybe I'm A Leo' again shows how a good a pressing this is and plays with sublime quality and no intrusion.  Every vocal and instrumental section play 'as new' with a sonic quality of the highest calibre.  Another Mint track in every way.

'Pictures Of Home' keeps up this fine start to the album and plays with STUNINING precision through every section.  Already it is getting difficult not repeating myself!  It plays like it was just bought brand new and the power and depth is on another level, the clarity is quite impressive also!  Mint

The intro on 'Never Before' plays to perfection and Gillan's opening vocal is just as strong.  It continues in the same way and again there is nothing to detract from the audio.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static just pure Mint audio throughout.

That classic intro on the classic 'Smoke On The Water' plays with incredible clarity and power - these Japanese pressings are so impressive it has to be said!  They certainly match the UK pressings in every way and many would say they exceed them.  The audio is as strong and deep as anything I have heard before and the opening vocal keep up the standard.  It continues to play with phenomenal audio and this one demands to be be played loud for sure!  There is no distortion and again it plays 'as new' that is no exaggeration.  The sound is immense!  MINT

The long intro on 'Lazy' has to be the cleanest I have heard in a long time.  It plays very quietly in a number of sections of course and yet the clarity is superb!  I 'picked up' only a couple of barely audible dust ticks but in essence the playback is perfect, each note is so clean and precise.  Blackmore demonstrating his usual grand work but the rest of the gang adding so much to the overall sound also, especially Lord.  The first vocal when it eventually arrives is faultless and the following harmonica led instrumental is as good and the remainder of this classic plays with imperious quality also.  No ticks, clicks etc this is Mint every day of the week.

'Space Truckin' ends this classic album with unrivalled quality.  It plays loud and true with a sonic quality that is equal to that of the other tracks.  Impressive when you consider final tracks can often play with inner groove distortion but that is not the case here.  It plays with stunning Mint precision from the first note to the last.  Wow!

In summary this album plays to superb standard with no background.  It could not play any better - there are no static ticks, clicks, pops or static and the clarity is comparable to an un-played vinyl.  As you can see from my grading every track grades as Mint there is not even a single Mint- in there!  This is without doubt a FINAL UPGRADE pressing, a high end Japanese pressing for sure.

The Gatefold, Obi, Lyric Poster & Insert

The cover is in superb condition and has retained its shape perfectly.  The top edges have only a couple of tiny 'rubs' and the bottom edges are super clean also with only a couple of minor rubs near the right hand corners.  The wide spine is so clean and strong all corners are in great shape without any noticeable wear.  The front and back cover are unmarked and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate also.  The Obi strip is perfect and this is another cover that has been so well looked after over the last 47 years.  A stunning example.

The fold out lyric poster and the Japanese insert are both 'as new' without any wear.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
