DEEP PURPLE Machine Head (Purple TPSA 7504) RARE German 1st Pressing + Insert MINT!
RARE German first pressing of Deep Purple`s magnificent "Machine Head" on Purple Records (March 1972). Original German first pressings utilised UK gatefold sleeves, with an added "Made in W. Germany" sticker on the cover. The records themselves were pressed in (West) Germany.
As close as it gets to perfection apart from a sealed record, this copy comes from my own collection. The album was bought in the late seventies and played once  or twice. The record has been in storage for over 35 years. It is practically perfect.
"Machine Head became the benchmark against which everything that followed would be judged. In the canon of heavy rock, this is an album replete with classic tracks. Concise in nature, killer punches are only ever a minute away no matter what song you play: "Smoke On The Water"`s devastating simplicity is the foundation stone of the whole record and one of rock`s most archetypal riffs. Not only heavy as hell, it was insanely catchy and the long-haired denim-wearing world grasped it to their bosom without a moment`s hesitation." - Sid Smith, BBC Review, 2007.
"Smoke On The Water is about a big fire in Montreux, obviously the most exciting thing to happen to these fellows since the London Symphony Orchestra." - Robert Christgau, c.1981.
