SUPERB UK FIRST PRESSING OF A SENSATIONAL LP WHICH DELIVERS PRETTY MUCH PERFECT AUDIO THROUGHOUT - PRETTY HARD TO BEAT AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Recorded over three nights in August 1972, Deep Purple's Made in Japan was the record that brought the band to headliner status in the U.S. and elsewhere, and it remains a landmark in the history of heavy metal music.
Since reorganising with singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover in 1969, Deep Purple had recorded three important albums — Deep Purple in Rock, Fireball, and Machine Head — and used the material to build a fierce live show.
Made in Japan, its selections drawn from those albums, documented that show, in which songs were drawn out to ten and even nearly 20 minutes with no less intensity, as guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and organist Jon Lord soloed extensively and Gillan sang in a screech that became the envy of all metal bands to follow.
The signature song, of course, was "Smoke on the Water," with its memorable riff, but those extended workouts, particularly the moody "Child in Time," with Gillan's haunting falsetto wail and Blackmore's amazingly fast playing, and "Space Truckin'," with Lord's organ effects, maintained the onslaught, making this a definitive treatment of the band's catalog and its most impressive album.

Track Listing:
Side 1: HIGHWAY STAR (Osaka - 16th August 1972) / CHILD IN TIME (Osaka - 16th August 1972)
Side 2: SMOKE ON THE WATER (Osaka - 15th August 1972) / THE MULE (Tokyo - 17th August 1972)
Side 3: STRANGE KIND OF WOMAN (Osaka - 16th August 1972) LAZY (Tokyo - 17th August 1972)
Side 4: SPACE TRUCKIN' (Osaka - 16th August 1972)

LABELS: CLEAN, BRIGHT and UNMARKED with light to moderate spindles - not been over-played and extremely well cared for
VINYL Visual: All surfaces retain their original DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY sheen and are CLEAN and BRIGHT and practically UNMARKED (under a bright light there are a couple of very light superficial marks evident but these have NO audio consequence)
VINYL Audio: The audio is absolutely OUTSTANDING - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VIBRANT, POWERFUL SOUND. TREMENDOUSLY ATMOSPHERIC. On playback at a LOUD volume there are NO scratches, NO sticks, NO jumps, NO loud clicks or pops and practically NO surface noise - not even on the very quiet passages (intros and solos) which play just about as quietly as vinyl possibly can (which in my experience is rare for this LP). A BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN PRESSING. The sound quality is OUTSTANDINGLY STRONG and both records play to an extremely high standard with NO groove-wear and NO distortion. Critically graded a strong NEAR MINT for audio and I think a FINER sounding first pressing would be pretty hard to locate indeed. FANTASTIC LP, SENSATIONAL COPY
SLEEVE: The gatefold sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition. The outer laminated surfaces have a beautiful DEEP GLOSS with very little rubbing and only light record impression and the unlaminated inside is CLEAN, BRIGHT and FRESH. The top and bottom edges are SHARP and CRISP with little wear and the spine displays all text CLEAR and BOLD. The back of the sleeve has a vertical laminate crease which occurred during manufacture and a later horizontal 'scratch' - both of these are, in my opinion, extremely minor (please see photos). Overall, a beautifully preserved example of this very easily worn sleeve
