Deep Purple : Perfect Strangers A2 / B1
This first pressing plays to a fantastic standard with no intrusion on either side. The sonic quality is unbelievable and judging by the audio and the zero spindle wear I would not be surprised if it had never been played before. My play testing detected no 'background' on any of the tracks, it truly is an exceptional album and easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE first press. It is also visually stunning with no marks or scratches.
The cover is in great condition with hardly any wear and the lyric inner is in perfect shape. A stunning 'package' overall.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in beautiful condition and still has that 'as new' immaculate glossy sheen. There are no marks or scratches and I can only detect a very small number of barely visible hairlines under a strong light. The run out grooves are unmarked and the red Polydor labels are super clean with no spindle wear. A STUNNING vinyl!
Play grading
The quiet intro on 'Knocking At Your Back Door' plays with stunning clarity with only a couple of dust ticks at most. Once Glover's heavy bass and then Paice's drums kick in the playback is phenomenal. This album was recorded 'loud' and the sonic quality on a vinyl as clean as this is stunning! There is no distortion and Gillan's vocal has never sounded stronger. Every section plays with supreme quality and throughout the entire 7+ minutes there is no interference at all. There is such power and depth to this opening track and Mint is very much deserved.
There are a couple of static clicks in the dead wax but then the intro on 'Under The Gun' plays perfectly. It continues in the same way with no intrusion on the audio and again the sound is so powerful and deep. Another Mint track.
'Nobody's Home' plays with imperious quality from the first note to the last with no interference. Another indication that this vinyl has hardly been played and perhaps not at all! This is Mint from start to finish.
'Mean Streak' plays to the same 'high end' standard with, you guessed it, no interference. If there is any inner groove distortion it is so minor and 100% non-intrusive. It plays with tremendous power and resonance and Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Lord's old style intro on 'Perfect Strangers' plays with stunning precision - good to hear that familiar sound again! From then onwards it is 'as new' with no sign of any interference. An underrated track this one that plays with breathtaking power and depth. Turn it up to max the 'sound' reverberates magnificently around the room. With an almost Led Zepp guitar refrain the audio is STUNNING from beginning to end. Even the fade has no 'background'. An immaculate Mint track for sure.
'A Gypsy's Kiss' plays to the same standard with a clarity and power that is second to none. The mid instrumental is a case in point and Gillan's vocals are as usual so powerful not to mention Blackmore's work and Paice's electrifying pace ha! Yet another Mint track.
The intro on 'Wasted Sunsets' is 'as new' and proceeds to play with sensational quality to the very end. I have no wish to repeat myself but it is so clear this vinyl has hardly ever been played. Mint
The entire intro on the final track 'Hungry Daze' plays loud and true with no 'background' and it continues to play with outstanding power and depth through every section. With no ticks, clicks, pops or static and no inner groove distortion either there are no negatives and it ends the album with suitably impressive Mint audio.
In summary this album could not play any better. The audio from start to finish is 'as new' with no intrusion and in particular the power of the audio is exceptional. The clarity and depth cannot be faulted either and as stated I suspect this album has never been played before such is the quality. That wouldn't be surprising for an 80s vinyl. A stunning FINAL UPGRADE album of that I have no doubt!
The Cover & Lyric Inner
The cover is in great condition with only very minimal shelf wear. The edges have very little rubbing and the spine has only a handful of white 'specks' and just a little wear on the corners. The right hand corners are even cleaner with barely any wear and the opening edge is pristine. The front cover is near 'perfect' with only a tiny corner crease bottom left and the back cover is in lovely condition with only a small number of minor creases around the edges, a common thing. A fine example overall when you consider it is approaching 40 years of age, hard to believe really.
The glossy lyric inner is in superb order with no side splits or tears and no creasing. Immaculate.
