Description
From the collection of late Atomic Rooster and many other bands guitarist John Du Cann.
Deep Purple-Shades Of Purple LP UK Parlophone PMC/PCS 7055 Black and Yellow Parlophone labels.Ist issue YEX 689-1/690-1 matrix from 1968.'Sold in UK'text on labels.
Debut LP by one of the great bands who together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were the forerunners of heavy metal music-the great thing about them and especially Zeppelin
and Purple in the early 70s was that they could mix the heavy stuff but with the subtlety of a progressive band and it was the perfect mix.Hundreds of bands tried to emulate that magic
mix but though a few got near most never did.
This is a Mono cover with a stereo record which may have happened several ways BUT it did happen sometimes that they were sold like this as I bought a no.of LPs over the years
from late 60s to early 70s where this sometimes happened. The band look good on this debut cover.
The cover is clean and bar a crease in the front laminate down part of the right edge it remains very nice.Original inner cover fine.
The disc has a few hairlines but they are not audible and the rest of the disc is nice-labels are clean with KT code-very minor spindle play.
Overall the set grades at EX-/EX.Obviously not ideal to have a mono/stereo mix BUT this is a rare LP in its original state and to get one in good condition is not a chance to be thrown away.
