This is the RARE UK 1st Stereo press of 'Shades Of Deep Purple' by Deep Purple. The vinyl as the earliest YEX 689-1 / 690-1 matrix and the first 1/1 mothers. The labels are the original Parlophone yellow & black, with the ‘Gramophone Co Ltd’ and 'Sold In UK’ label text. The record is complete with the original inner sleeve and laminated flipback ‘Patents Pending’ Garrod & Lofthouse stereo sleeve.
The record is in Excellent condition. The vinyl has a sensational high gloss and the original rich heavy black finish. The grooves show no sign of heavy play at all, there are just a couple of very light marks on Side 1. Side 2 is sensational.
The sound quality is Excellent. The vinyl lies completely flat on the turntable. There are moments of slight noise but these quickly clear and the sound is exceptionally bold, excellent audio separation and very sharp. It still has the wonderful early heavy vinyl vibrant, complete sound.
The yellow and black Parlophone label is in clean and bright Excellent condition. The black is bold, the yellow is bright and the text is sharp. There is just a little light spindle wear. The record is complete with its original inner sleeve.
The laminated flipback sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. The colours are bold, the laminate has a stunning bright mirrored shine and the picture is extremely clear. There is the slightest opening edge and ring wear. The flipbacks are sealed and the unlaminated back is still very bright. The text is sharp and the purple is bold. The spine is extremely firm with clear white text on a clean purple background.
