DEEP PURPLE

SHADES OF DEEP PURPLE

1968 UK PARLOPHONE STEREO PCS 7055

                                                      YEX-689-1

                                                      YEX-690-1

This is a truly stunning example of Deep Purple's brilliant 1968 psych debut album. The vinyl looks MINT and plays MINT and has only ever had just 2 or 3 very careful plays since new, this superb condition early second pressing has the rare 'YEX 689-1 & YEX 690-1' matrixes that are usually only found on the yellow/black label first pressings, this copy also comes in the original late 60's issue Garrod & Lofthouse front laminated flip-back sleeve with purple back, this stunning original issue sleeve is MINT apart from just one lamination crease top/front, only a tiny amount of these early silver/black label pressings were issued with the original 1968 flip-back covers and it was quickly changed to the less attractive matt black non-flip-back cover. This outstanding condition vinyl and sleeve looks as fresh as the day it hit the record stores and will not disappoint in any way.

VINYL=MINT-

The vinyl looks as good as the day it was pressed with no bad surface marks at all, in strong light you may see just a few extremely light sleeve withdrawal lines but these few very feint lines obviously have no effect on play at all and are very hard to spot, all tracks play as new with a brilliant clear and crisp sound quality that is free of distortion or groove wear, i have owned this album since new and i have only ever played it just two or three times on good quality equipment so the sound quality on all tracks is truly stunning and free of annoying surface noise. it would be impossible to be disappointed with this vinyl as it really is in perfect playing condition and will never need upgrading.

LABELS=MINT

Both black/silver columbia labels are MINT with no spindle traces at all. The labels have the early 'Gramophone Co Ltd' rim text and the 'Made In GT Britain' text at the bottom, these labels are in new condition with no blemishes at all.

SLEEVE=MINT-

The original Garrod & Lofthouse front laminated tri-flip-back sleeve is also in stunning condition with just one lamination crease on the front at the top, the top/bottom and opening edges are perfect with no wear and the top/bottom pinched spine is also in perfect condition with no worn areas or defects, the front lamination looks brilliant and gleams as new and the matt back is free of any wear and looks mint with excellent straight and strong flip-backs, this superb cover has the original purple matt back that was issued with the yellow/black parlophone label first pressings in the late 1960's, the back mentions the MONO PMC-7055 & STEREO PCS-7055 codes on the bottom flip-back, only a very small amount of early second pressings came with the original 60's purple back flip-back cover and all slightly later silver/black label uk pressings came in a less attractive more common non-flip-back sleeve with a matt black back that was prone to storage/ring wear, this original issue Garrod & Lofthouse flip-back sleeve really is stunning and like the vinyl it also looks brand new, it really would be difficult to find this original front laminated flip-back sleeve in better condition than this.

ORIGINAL PAPER INNER=EXCELLENT

The white paper inner sleeve is the original when issued and has the 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' and 'PATENT Nos. 1,125.555' text along the bottom of one side, this inner sleeve is in excellent clean condition with no splits or marks.

This is just a MINT- dream copy of Deep Purple's brilliant rare debut psych album that will never need upgrading. It's the perfect alternative to spending many hundreds of pounds on the 1st press yellow/black parlophone pressing.

All of the pictures used i took myself and are of the actual Deep Purple album for sale. These pictures can all be viewed in supersize.
