A rare and beautifully preserved copy of one of the best prog rock LP's of the late60's. It's the third , final and best album from the original line-up. It sees the band combining heavy metal, progressive rock and Jon Lord's classical virtuosity.
This is without doubt one of the best copies you will find of this rare masterpeice. I will describe the condition but first take a look at the pictures and see for yourself. I take photographs from all angles so you can see exactly what is on offer. Nothing is hidden!
This record has been stored upright in a dark cupboard in a protective cover for 40+ years. It has been rarely played prior to my check play today. The playing surfaces are near perfect with beautiful shine. I have checked under a bright light and there are just a few very slight and whispy sleeve removal marks. There is nothing of significance and the analogue sound is remarkable, the visual and audio grade is EXCELLENT+.
As mentioned, this is a very early pressing as indicated by the early mothers / stampers. This is without doubt one of the very first copies to be pressed. Also, only for a short time was this album pressed with these labels. Later copies with the EMI labels are much easier to come by. The two here are in lovely unmarked condition with just a couple of spindle trails on each label.
The Ernest J.Day gatefold cover is in fabulous condition. It features ' The Garden of Earthly Delights ' by Hieronymus Bosch. The laminated front and back shine like new, the inside has just a couple of small half moon creases. The spine is solid with the laminate still fully intact. There is evidence of a bump to bottom corner . Nothing major but it has caused a slight crease that can be seen inside the gatefold. There are no other creases and the other corners and the opening edges are sharp. There are no marks, dents, scribbles, laminate splits or any other damage to this lovely cover. The cover is graded as EXCELLENT
The record is housed in its polythene lined inner sleeve. I believe it is the original from the day of issue and is in EXCELLENT+ condition.
It would be difficult, to find a better copy of this pressing .
