Deep Purple / The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra : Concerto For Group And Orchestra 2014 3 x LP Box Set

This recording from 1969 at The Royal Albert Hall was of course originally released as a single LP.  This repress from 2014 features the entire concert across 6 sides of heavyweight vinyl.

This box set is in superb condition and prior to my play test had never been played before.  Only S2 has a little interference for a few seconds due to a tiny 'speck' on the surface - aside from that the clarity, depth and power of the audio is stunning.  There is hardly any static.

The box cover has been so well preserved with no obvious wear and the 20 page booklet is also in superb shape.

Visual description

The vinyls are in beautiful condition and still have an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  There is just that one tiny 'speck' on S2 but aside from that the records look perfect.  The labels are pristine with no marking and no spindle wear.

Play grading

This is the first time this album has been played and overall it plays with incredible audio.  There are six sides of course so I haven't played it in full but in saying that I have played the vast majority of it.

S1 plays with stunning clarity and there is barely any static.  There are of course a number of quiet sections here and yet the sound is so clean and precise.  I played all of 'Hush' on S2 and it is 'as new' from start to finish.  The instrumental 'Wring That Neck' plays with genuine quality for the most part but there are 6/7 static click sounds about 7 minutes in at the beginning of Lord's organ section due to that tiny 'speck' on the record.

'Child In Time' on S3 I just had to play all the way through!  It begins so quietly and yet the clarity is incredible.  It then proceeds to play with a sonic quality that is out of this world!  S4 is sensational from start to finish.

S5 has a little light static at the beginning and then plays so clearly with barely any static.  S6 plays with impeccable quality and again there is no intrusion on the audio.   

The Box Cover, Booklet & Inner Sleeves

The box is in superb condition and you would not be disappointed if you had just bought it brand new.  The corners and edges have no wear and it is unmarked on both sides.  The lid is maybe just a little concave but it is only a minor issue.

The glossy 20 page booklet is in lovely condition with no wear to be seen.  Hardly handled obviously.  The generic black poly-lined inners look 'as new' also.

Play tested on my Rega P2 with AT-VM95EN Cart / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers

The records have been cleaned on my Pro-Ject VC-S machine

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
