DEEP SOUTH....SACRED AND SINFUL: Southern Journey 5 Prestige Documentary Series INT 25005 (1961)
Recorded in the field by ALAN LOMAX with the assistance of SHIRLEY COLLINS in 1959, with supplementary recordings made in Virginia and Georgia with the assistance of ANNE LOMAX in 1960.
Includes works by FRED McDOWELL / VERA HALL / BESSIE JONES / JOE ARMSTRONG / THE BRIGHT LIGHT QUARTET / JAMES SHORTY and others.
** Please Note:The album sleeve has some damage to the spine, plus light ring wear (see photos) There are some "smudges" and light marks on the vinyl but we played both sides through and there are no skips or pops. There some surface noise, but as these are field recordings we aren't sure if that is in the original recordings....however it plays fine. This is heavy old vinyl in remarkable condition for it's age.**
