DELROY’S doo wop group 45 SPARKELL “Wise Old Owl” HEAR

Titles: “Wise Old Owl” / “Strange Land”
Label: SPARKELL (Bronx, New York). White label promo. Catalog number is Sparkell 102.
Personnel: Bobby Taylor – lead; Reggie Walker, Bobby Coleman, Ronnie Coleman.
Year: 1959
Condition:
“Wise Old Owl” play grades NM- with 100% of original gloss.
“Strange Land” play grades approximately VG+ to VG++ due to a couple small scuff marks which produce a few isolated but noticeable tics in the middle of the tune.
I have provided sound clips from both sides in their entireity so you can hear the superb clarity and fidelity. The record appears to have been played not more than one or two times.
NOTE: There is a very small edge chip/nick that is a serious cosmetic flaw, but does not affect the playing. It extends only about half-way into the lead-in grooves, and does not get anywhere near the sound grooves. I have included extra photos so you can see close-ups of each side. The record plays beautifully. There are no cracks. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer sounding copy of this extraordinary ballad. As with all my records, your satisfaction is guaranteed. I believe the winning bidder will be quite pleased.
Side note: Several members of this group performed on the Apollo recording of “Bermuda Shorts” (1957), but the group changed its sound and brought in Bobby Taylor as lead singer for this beautiful doo wop record issued on Sparkell 102.
