UK 7" Vinyl - Demonstration Record
TMG 749
Tamla Motown 1971. As far as I am aware, this is a first pressing, and I have certainly owned the record since around this time - one of my shared acquisitions with my school BFF.
Runout markings :
Side A Matrix stamped TMG 749 A - 1 G K T 1 Side B Matrix stamped TMG 785 B - 1 G G K T
Vinyl - EX+ - Crackling to the start of both tracks. On A Side it is obvious on run-in and through the instrumental intro but disappears when the vocals begin and the rest of the track plays cleanly. On B Side - a spoken vocal - it is audible for longer, gradually lessening and leaving the second half clear. Visually I can see a short scratch on A Side at 11 o'clock which is not audible, and another across the run-in on B Side at the same point. A couple of other very faint scratches are also just visible to the naked eye if you look very closely
Labels - EX - Previous owner's name (deleted) in red to right on Side A and current owners' name/mark in blue to left. Side B clean. Spindle marks to both sides.
Sleeve - EX - Creasing to top right and bottom left corners. Faint impression of vinyl to front. Owners' mark/name to front. Couple of grubby streaks and faint stains to reverse. No tears and seams secure.
This record has belonged to me virtually from new. It has been well cared for - stored always in sleeve and in record rack in cupboard, away from dust and dirt. It has been played at most 5/6 times in last 40 years, including 2/3 times while listing to check quality for description (and to relive old memories!)

I have played the record through on both sides prior to listing and tried to grade it according to the system which seems to be standard for many sellers. Where there is any discrepancy, please give more weight to the description above.
MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
