PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ONLY GRADE AN OPENED LP NEAR MINT (NM) IF I CAN GUARANTEE IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED (i.e. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER). OTHERWISE, NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) IS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST GRADE I WILL ASSIGN AN OPENED LP.
INCREDIBLY RARE original Philips white label PROMOTIONAL fist pressing of this obscure cult jazz/funk/prog/soul/rock/afrobeat masterpiece from 1970 on Janus with promotional text to the right of the center hole on the label underneath the catalog number!!! LP is VG+/VG++ with a few light paper scuffs. Cover is VG-/G+ with an 8" piece of thin transparent tape on the spine, a smaller 6 and a half inch piece at the opening on top and a smaller 3" piece at the bottom middle. This is the copy you want to play and enjoy. An endless source of samples and breaks, this LP has become the stuff of legend. These guys threw everything but the kitchen sink into their songs and somehow, against all odds, it ALL works and it doesn't just work well but spectacularly well. Too exotic and funky for the rock crowd and too rocky for the funkateers, this LP must have caused the label's advertising folks some very sleepless nights upon release. Thank God hip hop recognized its brilliance and rescued it from falling through the cracks of time unnoticed.
I USE GOLDMINE GRADING~ MINT (SEALED) NEAR MINT: LOOKS UNPLAYED VG++: VERY VERY MINIMAL SIGNS OF US VG+: AVERAGE SIGNS OF USE, NOTHING DEEP, SUPERFICIAL VG: STILL AN OK RECORD, NOISE BETWEEN SONGS GOOD: WORN BUT PLAYS FINE WITH DISTRACTING NOISE POOR: FILLER COPY ONLY. LOTS OF SCRATCHES
