Information

Derek and the Dominos were a blues-rock band formed in the spring of 1970 by guitarist and singer Eric Clapton with keyboardist Bobby Whitlock, bassist Carl Radle and drummer Jim Gordon, who had all played with Clapton in Delaney, Bonnie & Friends.

The band released only one studio album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, which featured prominent contributions from guest guitarist Duane Allman[1] from the Allman Brothers Band. The album went on to receive critical acclaim, but initially faltered in sales and in radio airplay. Although released in 1970 it was not until March 1972 that the album's single "Layla" (a tale of unrequited love inspired by Clapton's relationship with his friend George Harrison's then wife, Pattie Boyd Harrison) would make the top ten in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The album, which has received praise from both critics and fans alike, is often considered to be the defining achievement of Clapton's career.[2][3]

There is some hardly noticeble and very light fraying in the corners and on some edges of this gatefold sleeve.   This aside the structure and spine of the album is still strong.     The beautiful painting on the front has retained its original quality.    The inner gatefold photos and the guitar photo and album listings on the back still look great.    This album comes with original inner sleeve.

As you can see from the photos, aside from some hardly noticeable and faint spindle marks, all sides of this Polydor records label are still in terrific condition.

On the run-in of record 1 there is an extremely small chip (0.1 cm) Also there are occasional surface marks.   However these are light and few and far between.

As its on the very outer run-in the extremely small chip has no negative impact on the audio quality of record 1.    The audio delivered by Clapton and co sounds fabulous throughout all fourteen songs on this terrific double album.

Dear collector, we are the Barraclough brothers of ‘Collectable Vinyl Records’. GRADING POLICY

 

We have a databased our collection, using the ‘rare records price guides’ grading scale (if you are unaware of this grading system please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will reply as soon as possible with a explanation of how this grading system works.   As you can see in the description there is a grading given to vinyl and audio quality.  This is necessary because a record may seem ‘poor’ quality when viewed, but when played, the audio quality is often ‘excellent’.  Conversely the vinyl quality may seem excellent but when played the audio quality can be quite poor.

 

FULL REFUND POLICY

 

We will offer a full refund (including p & p) if you find that any of the gradings (outer sleeve, label, vinyl or audio quality) given in the listing do no match the record’s description (according to the rare record collector grading system).  A full refund (including p & p) policy prohibits scammers, but more importantly ensures our true collectors complete piece of mind. As you see by our feedback, we have attained a strong reputation based on the accuracy of our descriptions, communication with clients and a quick and professional postage service.   So, in the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied, please notify us within 48 hours of receipt that you are returning the record and we will deposit your refund via Paypal.

We have become aware that many of our non EU customers have difficulties receiving records without (particularly with the more valuable records) paying huge customs charges. As always Joe and I will strive to make things easier (and cheaper) for our collectors. To achieve this we will always send the record(s) as a “gift” and state the value to be under £5, ensuring that you receive the records without paying unnecessary custom charges or problems in your country.

 

SHIPPING & HANDLING POLICY

 

For domestic delivery we offer a choice of royal mail 1st class, 1 st class, recorded signed for or special next day delivery.  For international customers airmail is our preferred shipment option.  However, any customer can request services such as surface mail or airsure.   Our regular international buyers may notice we have recently substantially reduced our postage tariffs for both ‘European’ and ‘rest of the world’ delivery.  PLEASE NOTE : The postal options – “special delivery”  (next day) and airsure provide extra compensation (up to £500) and security – this is strongly advisable for many of the rare and valuable records that we sell.   I cannot accept liability for items that may be lost or damaged by royal mail so please bear this in mind when selecting your postage option.   However, in all circumstances I will obtain proof of postage which insures the package up to the value of £39. (see the Royal Mail website for details)  you will be given these postage options when you pay for your item(s).
