First issued in 1967, ‘Derrick Harriott’s Rocksteady Party’ quickly became a collector’s item among Jamaican music fans, due to the sublime soulful music contained within its grooves and the limited numbers that saw manufacture.
This is the 1st issue on Island's glorious pink label. A real treasure! This is from the original sleeve notes...
CRYSTAL RECORDS are proud to present on his second long playing album, produced by him, one of Jamaica's top singing personalities DERRICK HARRIOTT and his ROCK STEADY PARTY.
A very ambitious artiste, DERRICK now owns a record shop in Kingston, is the producer of this L.P., has several artistes recording for him, and his M.C. vocalist for one of Jamaica's leading dance and recording bands the "MIGHTY VIKINGS".
Another accomplishment for Derrick is that he is celebrating his tenth year in the music business this year 1967. All Jamaica and his fans all over the world wish him a continuous and successful career for the future. On side one of the L.P., two songs are by Derrick, cut one is titled "WALK THE STREETS", also his latest release on 45 r.p.m. Cut two is is titles "HOME, HOME, HOME" a song made popular by Ken Boothe.
Side two features Derrick with two songs, cut one composed by him is titles "KEEP ON DANCING" a real ROCK STEADY swinger, and cut two is titled "THE LOSER" his latest hit on 45 r.p.m. which hit the number two spot on the Jamaican hit parade top 30 chart in August 1967.
