Description
Welcome to this auction ska fans this carver 45 represents what might have been with this well known ska tune As you’ll be aware “National Dance” was issued by Derrick Morgan & Patsy in 1965 backed with “Mount Zion” by Desmond Dekker but What is not so well known (or known at all) is that Desmond also had a bash at the tune accompanied by Marie, the backing isn’t the same but the lyrics are. This tune is taken from a long lost acetate which has 2 slightly different takes, this is one of them backed with “Mount Zion” just the way it could have been had Lesley Kong chosen this version The acetate is in pretty good condition so has transferred to vinyl quite well and although not perfect it’s very acceptable and probably the only way you’re ever going to hear this long lost version!
If this was recorded in 65 when Derrick Morgan’s version was then it would have appeared on the red & black Beverly’s label but if it was earlier and shelved for some time then it could have been on the yellow & black design with this in mind I can offer you the choice of either label design (see pics) the choice is yours But just to be clear this auction is for 1 copy of your choice only !
