The Flaming Lips are releasing 7,500 copies of their cover of DEVO’s “Gates of Steel” on silver 7? vinyl in single pocket jackets this Record Store Day, April 19th. Part of Warner’s “Side By Side” series, the Lips version is paired with a 1980 recording of the same song by DEVO from the original DEV-O Live EP.  The split is a tribute to DEVO guitarist and founding member Bob Casale – better known as “Bob 2? – who died of heart failure on February 17, 2014."
