Leave it to Devo to create a die-cut picture disc in the shape of an astronaut mask.
First encountered "Beautiful World" via its stunning video in a Dr. Demento video special circa 1989. This was certainly one of the very first promo videos ever made that attempted to make a serious point. "Beautiful World" probably sums up the entire Devo worldview and ethos better than any other song of theirs. Brainy, ironic and bitter, One can't help but wear a wry smile every time we hear the song come on in public, thinking the layman probably interprets it as being a feel good '80s synthpop song. This is one of the aspects of the band we love most: they used the idiom of the day and played with it.
"Nu-Tra Speaks" probably scared the hell out of the uninitiated spuds who flipped over the record back in 1981. It's basically a bit of spoken word Devo propaganda from "Nutra" (also a shorthand nickname for the New Traditionalists album), who is really just a speed-varied Jerry Casale. Thankfully, it's not too rare, as it has appeared on CD several times through the years, including every expanded reissue of New Traditionalists.
CONDITION: Used VINYL: NM. Still with original unopened adhesive seal. JACKET: Excellent. Some age spots. Will provide additional jacket.
