Second 45 of this Dutch beat group that also recorded as John Hatton & The Devotions. They were best known for their sublime “I should be ashamed” 45 (“Diggin’ for Gold Vol. 1”), but I must say that I like this 45 a lot too. “For my own” is a great original with a typical Dutch Nederbiet sound and singer John Hatton fully exposing his great vocal capabilities. I know, I know…..there’s a trumpet to be heard, but I don’t think it should scare away you from it…..a great song is a great song is a great song, no matter what…PERIOD! The B-side is a fab haunting version of The Hollies’ “To you my love” – VERY WELL DONE !!….and for those 60’s beat/garage fundamentalists…there’s NO HORNS in it!! This 45 is VERY HARD to find these days!!
