Bereits knapp ein Dreivierteljahr nach seinem gefeierten Album 'Surya Namaskar' (Vinyl Freiland F18) bringt der indonesische Ausnahmegitarrist mit 'Hasta Karma' seinen nächsten Knaller heraus. Wie üblich bei dem umtriebigen Gitarrenhexer hat er sämtliche Kompositionen selbst geschrieben und sich für die Aufnahmen wiederum eine Anzahl hochkarätiger Studiocracks angelacht. Am Vibraphon brilliert die NYC-Legende Joe Locke. Bass spielt Ben Williams und Schlagzeug der umwerfende Antonio Sanchez, beide ansosnten fest in Pat Metheny's Unity Group. An den Keyboards wiederum ist Budjanas indonesischer Landsmann Indra Lesmana im Einsatz, in seiner Heimat einer der angesagtesten Studiomusiker. Diese Herren verstehen es geradezu spielerisch, musikalisch so zusammenzuwirken, dass man meint, sie hätten schon immer zusammengespielt. Tatsächlich kamen sie jedoch erst für diese Studioaufnahmen zusammen.. Ein Rad greift ins nächste - und das Resultat ist ein weiterer Gipfelsturm des modernen Progressive Jazz. Kein Wunder wenn soviel geballtes Können aufeinander trifft.
