Description
Up for auction is a beautiful copy of the Dexter Gordon album "A Swingin' Affair" released on Blue Note Records (BST 84133) in 1962. This is an original first stereo pressing with the Playstilite "ears" in the run-out groove, along with "VanGelder" stampings. Non-deep groove New York USA labels, as it should be. All first New York USA pressings starting at catalog number 4081/84081 did not have the deep grooves--the ones that did used older deep groove plates and are actually second pressings. 100% guaranteed first pressing. Also includes original Blue Note factory inner sleeve.
The cover is in very strong condition. Correct West 61st St., New York 23 address for a matched first pressing. Iconographic front cover still retains its original shiny lamination. No lifting or peeling to the lamination. No ring wear to speak of. Perhaps a little rubbing, but it's hard to tell except under certain angles and lighting. A couple corners are rubbed very slightly. One corner shows a small chip loss (see photo). Back cover is bone-white and bright as it should be. Upper left corner looks slightly bumped. No writing, no ring wear. Very clean. I'd grade the cover Near Mint Minus- (NM-).
The vinyl is in beautiful shape. No obvious scratches, scuffs, or marks. Nice clean, bright labels. Perhaps some very faint, superficial signs of having been taken out of the paper inner sleeve a few times. Vinyl shows few signs of previous handling or play, very well-cared for. Retains its original high gloss shiny surface, very attractive copy. I'd grade the vinyl Near Mint (NM).
