RARE!!
FANTASTIC HARD BOP session from tenor sax GREAT DEXTER GORDON! He recorded a slew of hip albums for BLUE NOTE which all come highly recommended but this outing is quite special! The inclusion of CARL PERKINS on piano is a real nice treat. CARL recorded one album for the DOOTONE label ,which is FABULOUS, and was an emerging pianist out of the WEST COAST jazz scene in the late 50's. Interestingly enough, PERKINS suffered from polio which crippled his left hand and left him playimg piano with a contorted left arm. This remarkably added to his distinctive sound!! He was on the verge of stardom when he died at 29 years young, overtaken by his drug addiction. LEROY VINNEGAR is on bass and his "walking" bass approach supplies such a steady backdrop for soloists like DEXTER GORDON and JIMMY ROBINSON (trumpet) to perform around. Enough can't be said of this fine session! A true CLASSIC! Marvel at the high level of HARD BOP and sneak a peak at DEXTOR GORDON before he would start performing more modernist albums in the 60's. This is quite RARE so DON'T MISS OUT!!

COVER: VG+ the bottom seam has wear and shows signs of splitting in middle of seam. Minimal and does not detract from the cover's appearance.
