Description

You are bidding on an extremely rare RED VINYL edition of the classic album “Dexter Blows Hot and Cool” by Dexter Gordon (Dootone Modern Jazz Series DL-207) from 1956. Red and silver labels. This version of the album has sold for as over $1,000.00 at auction. This is a very good copy. There is some scuffing and slight ring wear on the front cover and a two inch split at the upper right hand corner. The side seam is NOT split. Slight scuffing and wear on the back cover. The red vinyl is very good condition, but there are some light scratches, and light tics can be heard on playback. Red vinyl is notoriously sensitive stuff. Nonetheless, it’s a deep pressing that plays very well indeed. Dexter Gordon: tenor saxophone; Carl Perkins: piano; Leroy Vinnegar, bass; Chuck Thompson: drums; Jimmy Robinson: trumpet. SIDE ONE: Silver Plated; Cry Me a River; Rhythm Mad; Don't Worry About Me; I Hear Music. SIDE TWO: Bonna Rue; I Should Care; Blowin' For Dootsie; Tenderly. "Dootsie" refers to Dootsie Williams, the owner of Dootone Records (9512 South Central Avenue, Los Angeles 2, California; according to the back cover and record labels) and one of the unsung heroes of Jazz and R&B. Other Dootone artists included the Zion Travellers, the Penguins, the Medallions and the great comedian Redd Foxx!
