Fourniers Intonation bewirkt ein stetes Entzücken; sie ist von lyrischer Wärme, dabei aber mit einem Hauch von Wehmut, was eine wundervolle Wirkung auf die mehr flehenden Parts von Dvo?aks Rondo hat – ein Werk, das für Cello geschrieben wurde, was hier sehr deutlich wird. Sein Ausdruck ist besonders schön beim Cantabile. Beim wieselschnellen Spiel in Francoeurs Allegro vivo, Rimski-Korsakows "Hummel" oder Poppers "Elfentanz" verleiht er der Akzentuierung einen gewissen Biss, was den Rhythmus gleichzeitig prickelnd und diszipliniert wirken lässt. Der Weber ist eine angenehme Überraschung, aber besondere Freude haben mir der Dvo?ak, der Schumann (eigentlich für Horn komponiert, aber mit der Alternativ-Option für Cello) und der Brahms bereitet ... Das für Brahms typische tiefe Gefühl ist vollkommen im Einklang mit der Seele des Cellos. Gramophone

Fournier’s tone is a constant delight, warmly lyrical yet with a plangent edge that does wonders for the more pleading episodes of Dvor?ak’s Rondo — a work written for the cello, and making the fact very clear. His phrasing is beautifully shapely in cantabile. And when scurrying around in Francoeur’s Allegro vivo, Rimsky-Korsakov’s "Bumble-bee" and Popper’s "Elfentanz", he brings a bite to the accentuation which keeps the rhythm both tingling and disciplined. The Weber is a pleasant surprise, but I particularly enjoyed the Dvor?ak, the Schumann (meant for the horn but with cello as an optional alternative) and the Brahms ... Brahms’s particular brand of deep-hued sentiment is wholly at one with the soul of the cello. - Gramophone
