How rare is it to find a vintage box set of LPs from 1980 in FACTORY SEALED condition? For those of you who collect such rare vinyl items, in pristine, untouched by any other cartridge, turntable or fingers - this is your chance to own such a set. Don't hesitate as you may never find another in such superb condition.Thomas Brandis (Hamburg, June 23, 1935 – March 30, 2017) was a German violinist, chamber music performer, pedagogue and former concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic.
Born in Hamburg (Germany) in 1935, Brandis trained as a violinist in Hamburg and later in London with Max Rostal. After winning the first of the International ARD Competition he was concertmaster in Hamburg, moving later to Berlin to play with the Berlin Philharmonic. He became concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic at age 26, and served in the position until 1983. In 1976 he founded the Brandis-Quartet, which has performed virtually in all major festivals in Europe, Japan and the Americas. Thomas Brandis has recorded for EMI, Deutsche Grammophon, Teldec, Orfeo and Harmonia Mundi.
Thomas Brandis was a professor of violin at the Berlin University of the Arts until 2002, and a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Musikhochschule in Lübeck.
He died on 30 March 2017 at the age of 81.
Leon Spierer (born 1928 Berlin) is an Argentine - German violinist who served as the first concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic from 1963 to 1993, 26 years after Herbert von Karajan's conducting season. Prior to that, he worked from 1958-1963 in the same role in the Stockholm Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Speaking eight languages, Spierer was born in 1928 in Berlin. In the 1930s his family left Germany first to go to Luxembourg, where Leon began his violin studies and from there to Argentina in 1937. In Argentina, Spierer studied with Croat-born Ljerko Spiller. Along with the violin, Spierer studied computation and funding and completed a certificate in accounting / auditing. In 1955, Leon Spierer received a British Council scholarship in London to study under Max Rostal. He served as a concertmaster for the first time in Nürnberg, then at the Opera Orchestra in Bremen, until he got there from the Royal orchestra of Stockholm in 1958 and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for 1963-1993. Spierer still teaches in the US orchestra of the YOA Orchestra of the Americas. He has had master classes at the Piitime Music Festival in Sweden for several years.
In 1969, Spierer received the German Music Critics Award for his versatility as an orchestral musician.
Leon Spierer, a German-Argentinian violinist who, for many years, was the concert champion of Berlin's Philharmonic under Herbert von Karajan's leadership.
Spierer has Argentine origins, but has lived in Germany most of his life. He has worked a lot in Sweden, and speaks fluent Swedish. He was a teacher at the master classes at the festival in Piteå for many years. The courses were held at Framnäs Folk High School / Piteå Music School.
A trip through southern Africa in 1977 was well received.
Spierer is known for his language skills, and speaks eight languages ??fluently.
