Description
Very scarce together as a set, and in these early pressings and lovely condition, these are flawless copies of German DGG SLPM 138014 and 138015, part of the very first slate of stereo releases for DGG in '58/'59. Both discs are thick pancake "Alle Hersteller," and the covers (one a sewn gatefold), dated 12/1958 and 11/1959, have "STEREO" in thin letters, red stereo stickers on both, with ads for the other initial DGG stereo releases on the back of one. The Quartetto di Roma and the Trio Santoliquido play the Paino Quartets of Brahms, Op. 25 & Op. 26
The records were auditioned with a Goldring 1042 cartridge, Music Hall TT, Densen amplification and Epos speakers. The thick discs look glossy and superb, and play quietly and perfectly: NM. The covers have very light wear, so VG+.
This is a fine collector's copy of this indispensable stereo DGG set.
