Description

Very scarce together as a set, and in these early pressings and lovely condition, these are flawless copies of German DGG SLPM 138071 and 138072, part of the slate of stereo releases for DGG in 1959. Both discs are thick pancake "Alle Hersteller," and the covers are dated 11/1959 and 12/1959, red stereo stickers on both. First cover design. The Amadeus Quartet plays four of Haydn's String Quartets, from Op. 57, Op. 65, Op 72 & Op. 74.

The records were auditioned with a Goldring 1042 cartridge, Music Hall TT, Densen amplification and Epos speakers. The thick discs look glossy and superb, and play quietly and perfectly: NM. The covers have very light wear, so VG+.

This is a fine collector's copy of this indispensable stereo DGG set.
