Description
Up for auction is a nice copy of the Dick Dale & His Del-Tones album "King Of The Surf Guitar" originally released on Capitol Records (ST 1930) in 1963. This is a guaranteed original U.S. stereo pressing on the correct "rainbow" Capitol label, not a cheap reissue or import. Original paste down cover. Comes with original factory Capitol paper inner sleeve.
Cover is in beautiful condition, with few signs of wear or previous handling. White cover shows no ring wear or age discoloration, which was very common for this cover. Corners are sharp, not bumped. Seams are strong, no splits. Back cover is nice and white, no ring wear, no writing, no age discoloration. Very attractive and well-preserved. Grade cover Near Mint (NM).
Vinyl is in nice condition, retaining much of its original high gloss shine. No serious scratches or scuffs, though it does show several faint and small hairlines on each side, probably from taking the album in and out of the paper inner sleeve a number of times over the last 50 years. Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes. Play tested, the record generally plays very well, nice strong fidelity, though the first track on Side One plays with some audible surface noise, which generally fades out afterwards. Not audiophile clean, but plays well, and is still enjoyable to listen to. Visually, grade the vinyl EX (Excellent). Audio quality grade the vinyl VG+/EX- because of the first track. Still a very collectible copy.
