Description

DICK GRIFFIN– The Eighth Wonder (1974) Strata-East-19747 – EX/M- (cover/vinyl)

Rare modal jazz session on the great Strata-East Records label. This features trombonist Dick Griffin joined by an incredible group that includes Cecil McBee on bass, Freddie Waits on drums, Ron Burton on piano, Warren Smith on vibes and percussion, Leopolodo F. Flemming on congo and percussion and the great Sam Rivers on sax and Flute. Dick gives big vibes to Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Sun Ra in the liner notes, so that should give you some idea of what this is about. Tracks are “Eighth Wonder,” “It Could Be,” “Girl, I Really Love You So,” “Jakubu’s Dance,” “Flying Back Home,” and “Come Be With Me.”

This is a beautiful copy. The cover is still in the original shrink wrap. The vinyl is clean and glossy and looks unplayed. I grade this conservatively: M-/M- (cover/vinyl).
