THE DICK MORRISSEY QUARTET - " IT'S MORRISSEY, MAN! ", Fontana (TFL 5149) Mono,1961.
Very rare 1961, first UK pressing of the '61 Fontana British Modern Jazz LP.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)
In the name of a good auction, I will start this LP at just 99p!
CONDITION:
VINYL = V.G.+ (No big scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, just a few light spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out quite a lot of very light marks and faint surface scuffs visible on the vinyl, which also suffers from some kind of 'dappling' - although none of these correspond directly to any serious audible defects. It generally plays well - mostly free from interuption from distortion, clunks, excessive surface noise, etc... when listening in headphones, there is some faint occasional surface noise audible during the run-in and some of the quieter sections and as the record played, I did hear the odd faint click in the background. Like many 1960s well pressed, deep grooved mono LPs, this record actually plays better than it looks - of course, during some of the quieter sections of the record, faint surface noise is more obvious but at other busier sections it is all but obscured by the music. A good example of a record that suffers more visually than audibly and although it's devalued by it's condition on both fronts, it never seems ruined by it.
Overall, would still make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy... particulary taking into account that pristine copies of this LP usually sell for hundreds, this might be someone's chance to bag a good affordable copy.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = EX.- (NO defacing or big creases, rips or tears, etc. Had to be marked down for a few lighter creases, a yellowed back and just some regular shelf-wear - see photos for further clarification)
