In German !
It was May of 1964, and Swan Records, along with several other US labels, were reaping the rewards of picking up the option to release Beatles records when Capitol passed on the chance in 1962, and 1963. They had original released “She Loves You” (Swan 4152) and when they had heard that a German language version had also been recorded they snapped it up. It’s the same July 1, 1963 backing track, but with Jan. 29, 1964 vocals on top but now it is “Sie Leibt Dich.”
The single hit record shops in the summer between the Ed Sullivan appearances, and that first US tour, and it didn’t sell very well, with most buyers opting for the English language version. I wonder if it wouldn’t have sold better if it was actually listed as ‘The Beatles” instead of ‘Die Beatles.’ With all the impersonators out there – buyers might not have know what / who this was.
There are several pressing variations with this one, and this one has a scratched matrix with Virtue Studio S-4182-S R
