Description
DUKE ELLINGTON AND HIS ORCHESTRA give their very best hot-yet-commercial version of two hits from "Blackbirds of 1928":
"DIGA DIGA DOO" and "DOIN' THE NEW LOW-DOWN."
This record features the Cotton Club band in all its finery, with great solos by JOHNNY HODGES (alto sax), COOTIE WILLIAMS (trumpet), WELLMAN BRAUD (bass) and DUKE ELLINGTON himself (piano). Duke's manager, IRVING MILLS steps up to the mike for a couple of very spirited vocals!
This original 1928 "Electric" OKeh 41096 is in clean E- condition. A little wear, a few rubs and superficial damage.
