Dire Straits' arresting self-titled debut arrived in the midst of punk's reign but couldn't have been further removed from

the era's slash-and-burn style. Recorded in West London in February 1978, the band's tasteful, jazz-inflected set embraces

folk, blues, and pub rock while also tracing a direct line back to the beat-oriented sound of early rock n' roll. Country and

roots accents further distinguish the British quartet's stripped-down music from any 1970s peers, as does the transparent

production, which has remained revered among audiophiles the world over – and which has never sounded better in vinyl

than on this double LP edition.

Debut homónimo de Dire Straits en 1978, caracterizado por una mezcla de folk,

blues, country y rock con inflexiones de jazz: el guitarrista Mark Knopfler muestra una precisión, complejidad y textura

asombrosas. El álbum Dire Straits incluye "Sultans of Swing" y "Down to the Waterline".

El deslumbrante debut de Dire Straits llegó en medio del reinado del punk, pero no pudo haberse alejado más deeste

estilo. Grabado en el oeste de Londres en febrero de 1978, el buen gusto de la banda se hace nota ren interpretaciones

teñidas de jazz, folk, blues y pub rock, mientras que también traza una línea directa al sonido orientado al ritmo del rock n

'roll de los primeros tiempos. Los acentos country distinguen aún más la música del cuarteto británico de otros artistas de
