Frisky French deep house feeds from Sascha Dive, surfacing here on Phonogramme with a second sense of (his) 'Definition Of House Music'. There is no dictionary definition, of course, which is why dance music histories tend to be written orally, by the keyest player (or if we're not careful, the highest bidder). With veteran Roland Clark on the bench, Dive opens on rich, soulful vocals and deep, dub-tactic propulsions with 'Invocation', setting the tone for 'There Is No Tomorrow' and the brilliantly measured 'I'm Inspired', before 'Those Nights' closes on a knowing, self-soothing prayer: "it's just one'a those nights..."
