Shoot Your Shot

High Fashion Netherlands

12" Cat: MS 545
Rel: 5 Oct 26
Disco/Nu Disco/Re-Edits Side 1 - Track 1. Shoot Your Shot (Ben Liebrand remix) Side 1 - Track 2. Flange Leads & Beats Side 2. Shoot Your Native Love (Ben Liebrand remix)

High Fashion Music's latest missive sees veteran Dutch remixer Ben Liebrand - a man who has been reworking records since the 1980s - take on one of drag legend Divine's most notorious singles, 1982's Bobby Orlando produced early Hi-NRG masterpiece, 'Shoot Your Shot'. Liebrand's EP-leading 'remix' is a genuine delight, with the Dutchman retaining many of the key elements - Orlando's throbbing bassline, fizzing synth riffs and Divine's vocals - while adding his own complimentary motifs and lightly spruced-up beats. You can hear some of those additions on the dub style 'Flange Leads & Beats' tool, while 'Shoot Your Native Love (mash-up)' sees him incorporate elements from another 82 Divine single, the similarly camp and muscular 'Native Love'.
