2 RADIO TRANSCRIPTION DISCS FROM WDSU, NEW ORLEANS. TWO COMPLETE 30 MINUTE RADIO PROGRAMS ON THESE TWO 16 INCH, BLACK LACQUER ACETATE, 33 1/3 RPM DISCS. THESE DISCS WERE RECORDED BY WDSU FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, VERY RARE!
"Dixieland Jambake" radio program from July 29, 1950. This was a "battle of the bands" style of radio program with alternating songs performed by Papa Celestin & His Tuxedo Jazz Band and Sharkey Bonano & His Kings Of Dixieland. Songs include "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" Papa Celestin, "That's A Plenty" Sharkey Bonano, "Bill Bailey Won't You Please Come Home" Papa Celestin, "On The Sunny Side Of The Street" Sharkey Bonano, "Mama Don't Low" Papa Celestin, "The Pizza Pie Boogie" Sharkey Bonano. 30 Minutes
"At Home With Music" radio program starring Dr. Sigmund Spaeth - musicologist. In this series, Dr. Spaeth plays and breaks down the details of the performance, a very interesting show for the classical music fan. For example, Dr. Spaeth plays part of Dvorjak's New World Symphony (1st & last movements), talks about these parts, then plays a record of the performance by The Czech Philharmonic conducted by George Szell. At the end of the show, Dr. Spaeth mentions that this is the 2nd to last program of the series and asks that listeners write in to ask the the show be continued. I suspect that this show is also from the same date as above. 30 Minutes
Discs are in Excellent or better condition with Excellent+ to Near Mint- sound, absolutely beautiful discs with beautiful sound!
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
