DIZZY REECE "Star Bright" RVG, "P" Blue Note LP 4023 Mono Vinyl.
This the 1960 deep-groove, RVG-stamped pressing of DIZZY REECE's "Star Bright" on the Blue Note Records Inc. 47 West 63rd NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 4023. "P" or "ear" present in Deadwax. Musicians include Dizzy Reece - trumpet, Hank Mobley - tenor saxophone, Wynton Kelly - piano, Paul Chambers - bass, Art Taylor - drums.
This is an incredibly well-recorded and punchy sounding disc with excellent detail and resolution of all instruments. Both sides have consistent low-level to mid-level surface noise. Many hairline marks, only a handful feelable. No skips. No distortion. Vinyl has good gloss. Labels clean with little spindle wear. Jacket is in very nice condition. 4" Spine-split, taped. Corners worn, one split. But overall, spine and seam condition very good, especially for a 57-year-old recording. Back cover has minor aging, but otherwise perfect. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
