DNA: "A TASTE OF DNA" (12" EP, AMERICAN CLAVÉ, AMCL 1003EP, 1981) vinyl = M- (as new!) / sleeve = M- (light wear on upper left corner) /// 1a. edició d'aquest fantàstic àlbum, l'únic oficial dels influents DNA, un dels pioners de la mítica No Wave nordamericana. /// 1st. pressing of the striking debut album by the brilliant American band DNA, one of the pioneers of the legendary No Wave (they were presented together with the Contortions, Teenage Jesus & The Jerks and Mars on the critically acclaimed and highly influential 1978's compilation LP "No New York", produced by Brian Eno) # according to the WIKIPEDIA: "DNA was a No Wave band formed in 1978 by guitarist Arto Lindsay. Rather than playing their instruments in a traditional manner, they instead focused on making unique and unusual sounds. Their music was described as spare, noisy and angular, and was compared to some of Captain Beefheart's output and even to Anton Webern [...]. DNA played occasionally at CBGB and Max's Kansas City and recorded one 7" single. Within their first year, they had cemented their reputation as a paradigmatic no wave band when Brian Eno selected them as one of the four groups documented on the NO NEW YORK LP, the first recording to expose no wave groups to an audience outside of lower Manhattan [...]. The music became even more spare and angular, with Wright's bass lines creating a sometimes menacing sound to support Lindsay's scraping, atonal guitar and Mori's irregular rhythms. Their song structures became tighter, briefer, more abstract, and have been compared to haiku"; # according to the BUFFALO TONES blog: "Part of the short lived New York no wave scene, DNA's music sounds like stiff contorted jerks and howls, spilling out randomly and with great intensity. I've seen Arto Lindsay being quoted as saying (and I'm paraphrasing) he 'never wanted to have an actual chord played in any of [his] songs'. Instead he simply plays rhythmic patterns by slapping, smashing, twisting and pounding his guitar. Though not alike musically, I can't help but draw similarities between the voice of Arto Lindsay and Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Arto being much more chaotic and fierce. This album is fantastic, and far too short, so get it and listen to it three times!". // If the buyer prefers registered shipping (please, send me an e-mail informing), the fees are: # Europe = 8,50 EUR, # Rest of World = 12,00 EUR.
