LP : Don Ellis Orchestra – Electric Bath

Original German pressing from 1968 on CBS, H 075/4, first press with orange label. Fully laminated cover. The LP was released in Germany exclusively by the “German Record Club”, there is no other edition. Funky bigband with lots of electronic devices ( echoplex a.o. ) used on the trumpet, heavy Fender Rhodes, exotic elements like the sitar on the title-track, psychedelic parts, uncommon meters (e.g. 5/4 ), tight brass & dope beats. Cool tracks from the beginning to the end on D.Ellis' first studio album. Look for more sitar-grooves in my current auctions !

Tracks: side 1: Indian Lady – Alone - Turkish Bath side 2: Open Beauty - New Horizons

Condition: the record looks mint- to ex+ in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks ex under a very strong halogen lamp. Side 1 plays in mint- all of the time. Side 2 has a few singular tics on the first track, the rest plays in mint-.

The cover shows just a hint of slightest shelfwear, all seams/spine are intact and show NO rub, front & back are fine with just a hint of slightest wear; overall mint--.

Zustand: die LP sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe mint- bis ex+ aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie ex aus. Seite 1 spielt durchgehend in mint-. Auf Seite 2 hat das erste Stück ein paar vereinzelte tics, der Rest spielt in mint-.

Das Cover hat nur ganz minimale Altersspuren, alle Kanten sind intakt und ohne Abrieb, Vorder- & Rückseite sind sehr schön; insgesamt in mint--. alle Platten habe ich professionell gereinigt und angehört (meist ganz, manchmal in Ausschnitten). Kommen mit neuer Außen- & Innenhülle !

Grading & Cleaning:

  • the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

  • after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

  • I also visually graded the record in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

  • only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

  • cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve
