THE DON GAIS TRIO: JAZZ AT THE ATLANTIS
Ex Libris GC 658.
This is an extremely rare Piano Jazz LP from 1958, recorded and pressed in Switzerland. Comes from legendary Seilers ATLANTIS club in Basel, where pianists like Joe Turner, Elsie Bianchi and Enzo Nestasio. This record was the first in a series of live recordings from the Atlantis, all of these are rare, but this is musically and raritywise on of the top notch items from this collection.
Line up: Don Gais: Piano, Paul Girard: Bass, Pierre Favre: Drums.
The tracks are: Perdido / Jorda / Once in a while / Don't got around much anymore - Tenderly / Sophisticated Lady / Tangerine / Take the A train.
Beautiful sound, real cool music! Great!
Condition: Cover has a little wear (a little bending on front left cover), and record is a bit shiny (like many of the 50s pressed Swiss LPs). Overall I would grade this VG+/VG+ overall, labels have an "x" but this is actually in very NICE condition!
Rare as hell, you never find these, not even here in Switzerland. One of the best early Swiss Jazz recordings.
