DONALD BYRD “A New Perspective” RVG, Blue Note BLP 4124 Mono Vinyl

This is the “VAN GELDER” stamped pressing of DONALD BYRD “A New Perspective” on the "New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP 4124. Musicians include Donald Byrd – trumpet, Hank Mobley – tenor saxophone, Herbie Hancock – piano, Kenny Burrell – guitar, Donald Best – vibraphone, vocals, Butch Warren – bass, Lex Humphries – drums, Duke Pearson – arranger, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson – choir direction.

VINYL plays with consistent light surface noise  (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No skips. Good gloss. Lite distortion in spots. Many hairline marks, three of four feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “New York USA” labels are clean, spindle wear. Original inner sleeve included. See photos.

COVER is in good shape. Corners worn. Wear, ringwear, wrinkles, right side stain, top to bottom. Seams and spine show cracking, small split on lower seam.  “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows ringwear, wear, dirt. Original sleeve included. Please see photos.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
