DONNA BROOKS: SOFT AND SLOW (Bethlehem BEP 104) This megarare jazz vocal gem stars Donna Brooks, a Philadelphia-born songbird who came to New York to make it big, and never did. But she did make a couple of tasty recordings in her short career. This one features guitarist Chuck Wayne's quartet with the great BOBBY SCOTT on piano, MILT HINTON on drums, and Peggy Lee's former drummer, Billy Exner. Songs: The Things We Did Last Summer, What More Can a Woman Do, GOne with the Wind, Lullaby of the Leaves. The condition should excite any vocal collector looking for this disc: the vinyl is at least NM and has probably only been played twice; no spindle marks. The back cover is almost free of discoloration. The front is excellent, save for a bit of fraying (1/8" on the right) of the cellophane protective covering, and some dot-like impressions.
