Description
Up for auction is a super rare copy of the Donovan album "Mellow Yellow" originally released on Epic Records (LN 24239) in 1967. This is a guaranteed, original early first Mono U.S. pressing, with the important "1A" and "1B" stampers in the run-out deadwax. Not a cheap reissue, import or re-processed stereo version like most for sale on eBay. You have never heard this album until you've heard it in its original mono format--much superior to the fake stereo versions.
Note: This album was never released in the U.K. because of a contract dispute; thus, this U.S. pressing is the true and only original pressing.
Cover is in beautiful condition, looks close to new, with virtually no signs of wear or aging. Front is bone white, not yellowed as is so common with this record. No ring wear whatsoever. Right edge along opening has one small ding that doesn't detract from the beauty of the cover. Seams are strong, intact, no splits, no rubbing, no chipping. Corners are sharp, not bumped in any significant way. Paste-down back cover is super clean, no ring wear, no writing, no wear. Beautiful. Grade the cover an easy Near Mint (NM). One of the nicest examples I've ever seen.
The vinyl in in superb condition, retaining all of its original high gloss luster. No scratches, no scuffs, no marks. Surfaces look shiny and new. Labels are clean and bright, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little, if any, previous play. I seriously doubt this copy has been played more than once--it's that nice looking. Hard to imagine finding a cleaner copy than this one. Grade the vinyl Near Mint (NM).
