78 RPM RECORD: "AS TIME GOES BY" -
as played and sung by Dooley Wilson in the film "Casablanca"
DECCA 78 rpm record, songs by Herman Hupfelf, adapted and played by Dooley Wilson in the film Casablanca. Side one is "As Time Goes By", and side two is "Knock On Wood". Both songs as recorded on this record were played and sung in the movie by Dooley Wilson in his own style. Record is number 40006-A. Record is impressed with code "L3218A" on side 'As Time Goes By', and code number "WL 3219T2A on side with 'Knock on Wood'. Comes in plain paper dust cover. The version of this record for "As Time Goes By" in the film Casablanca has become one of the most iconic songs in movie history along with the most famous film in movie history - Casablanca.
Condition is slightly 'previously played', with some minor surface wear on both sides. Overall in very good playable conditon in my opinion. See photos for detailed views of physical conditon.

Notes on Dooley Wilson, "As Time Goes By", and Casablanca:
Arthur 'Dooley' Wilson was most famous for playing the character of Sam in the film Casablanca. Wilson played the song "As Time Goes By" in the film, and released his own version of it (this Decca record is his original version of it that was sung and played by Wilson in the film). In the film, the song is announced a few times by Humphrey Bogart Saying "Play it again , Sam" - which came to symbolize Bogart's torment over wanting his former lover to return to him, and letting her go with her husband (Victor Laszlo) who is a top resistance leader against the Nazis. The phrase got even more famous as the song's symbol of romantic torrid passion that plays out between Bogart and Llsa Lund (played by Ingrid Bergman). Casablanca won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Its characters, dialogue, and music - particularly As Time Goes By - have become iconic, and Casablanca has grown in popularity to the point that it now consistently ranks near the top of lists of the greatest film of all time.
