Description
TITLE/ARTIST: This extremely rare and highly collectible Doors album in ORIGINAL MONO on the Elektra Label, entitled "Strange Days" (which is considered by many to be their finest album), and of course, is by the legendary late '60's group, The Doors. Without question, this Doors album in ORIGINAL MONO is one of the most difficult LPs to find anywhere these days, and it even comes with it's original inner sleeve (with picture and song lyrics). However, this particular record is a bit unusual---because while the vinyl is practically "like new", the jacket has one major flaw which I will discuss below. Therefore, please read the item descriptions and be sure to check out all the photos!
LABEL INFORMATION: As mentioned above, it is on the original, mustard colored, Elektra Label, EKL-4014 (MONO). I see just a little bit of light spindle wear on this LP's label---leading me to believe that the record wasn't played all that much--and the vinyl appears to reinforce this thought.
VINYL CONDITION: As I've indicated, the vinyl is extremely shiny, clean, and nice in condition, with no real flaws to report at all. To me, it appears to be almost as clean and perfect as the day it was 1st purchased back in 1967---practically "like new"---except perhaps for just one extremely light and completely uneventful 1" surface/paper line, but nothing to fret about, believe me! The album plays and sounds great!
JACKET CONDITION: OK, this is where the problem lies. The vertical, open end side of this jacket has been pretty badly damaged---by moisture at one time, I presume. About 3/4's of this seam has been affected, and then across the bottom about 2"-3" into the jacket's bottom edge. At 1st glance it looks pretty bad and it really is, BUT, it's actually a very small part of the whole jacket---and amazingly, the rest of this jacket appears to be in really good shape. In fact, I see no real problems or serious flaws with the rest of this jacket. But, PLEASE check the photos below to see for yourself, and then make your own decision. It seems a real shame, because the vinyl is in SUCH good condition, but.......
INTERESTING FACTS: You just don't see this MONO Doors' LPs out there anymore, and with the vinyl in such good condition as well. In addition, I will have other very rare LP's/EP's/45's listed in my current and upcoming auctions (including several rare Hot Rod LPs, The Beatles in mono, Buddy Holly's 1st LP, The Flamingos, Bobby Fuller, Elvis EPs and much more) so please continue to check out this site.
