Description

Very Rare promo only 7" 33-1/3 4 Song EP specially recorded for the March Of Dimes. Specially recorded by "Fat Bob" The Singing Plumber, with Jimmy Clark on Organ and Dorothy Ashby on Harp. Titled "What Does A Mother Say?". Songs are: "What Does A Mother Say" // "You'll Never Walk Alone"   b/w "The Impossible Dream" // "Climb Every Mountain". Original promo only on Benmark. Includes the very rare outer mailer/envelope sleeve. Mailer envelope has famed Detroit Tiger Mickey Lolich return address. Condition is VG- mailer sleeve, slit opening/some tears/small piece of clear tape lower  left edge, writing on back sleeve/VG+ vinyl (Some light surface marks)
1960s Private Promotional Pressing. One of the earliest and rarest records that Dorothy Ashby played on as a Studio Musician. A rare seven inch record playing at 33 1/3 rpm. This record apparently was produced by The March of Dimes organization as a fundraiser promotion in the local Detroit area in the 1960s. Legendary Detroit Tiger pitcher Mickey Lolich was an important part of the March Of Dimes organization, this promotion mailer picture sleeve has Mickey Lolich's former address in Detroit as return address for the promo record.  There was another March Of Dimes Promotion record featuring the same trio of "Fat Bob", Jimmy Clark and Dorothy Ashby a much larger Christmas Promotion featuring the Trio doing Christmas songs. The Christmas promotion had a bigger press run and is a bit more seen. I've had the Christmas one a few times in the past. This is the only copy of "What Does A Mother Say?" i've ever seen in over 45 years of collecting records.

Grading Scale:

10: Mint Perfect record, clean gloss, no marks, beautiful in every way. Very few records will make mint.

9: Mint- Very clean, only a few light marks. A great record.

8: Excellent (VG++) Condition between 7 and 9.

7: VG+ Used, but not abused. Light scratches only. Should play, and look very nice with minimal surface noise.

6: VG Still a nice record. Looks a bit used, light scratches, no gouges, still plays well, some surface noise.

5: VG- A bit rough but will play ok. Fills the collection.

4: G Plays very rough. Has multiple scratches. What a bargain!!

3-2-1: It only goes down from here.

*** I'll gladly take any record back if not satisfied. ***
