Offered is The Debut Album Set and 1st Edition Pressing of the talented Dorothy Lamour - A Collection Of Favorite Hawaiian Songs, on Decca Records A-371.

Early in The Age Of Shellac, Record Albums (more than one record issued in a book-like cover), were largely the domain of larger musical compositions – Classical and some Opera. Jazz, Blues, Rock and other musical forms were waiting to be invented.

With each side producing  5-6 minutes of playtime – many sides were necessary for the popular compositions.

By the 1930’s, record manufacturers began experimenting with Album Sets that featured individual musicians and entertainers whose talents were recognized as exceptional.

Such is the case with  Dorothy Lamour:

This 4 Shellac Record Set issued in 1944 was a Tribute to Dorothy's frequent role in tropical-themed musical comedy films. She was a popular Heart Throb, Movie Star and Singer, and a favorite Pin-Up Girl among many in the Armed Forces during the second world war. 

An intact, unbroken and complete A-371 set is quite difficult to find. This one is in wonderful, Investment Grade Condition as described below.

THE SHELLAC : EXCELLENT +

EX+ :  Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, all 8 sides sides of the records retain all of their original gloss with bright, undamaged Black and Gold Decca "Personality Series" labels (please see photos).
 
The records have received very little playtime and the audio playback is quite good / evident are a few scuffs and some light hairlines / no chips or cracking / all 8 tracks tracks play with no skips or sticks.






THE ALBUM SET COVER : EXCELLENT

EX :  Please see the Photos in our Gallery / Some front and back cover scuffing / the spine and inner sleeves have no rips or tears, and the 4 manila inner sleeves are securely affixed to that spine / all the seams are intact.

Also included  is the Original Insert released by Decca along with the Album's 1944 release (please see the Photos in our Gallery).

The records and the album will be arranged into a sturdy mailer with plenty of protective packaging for its journey to you. These original, early recordings are great treasures, and while their shellac composition is brittle - we have not lost one yet!
